Are you an empathetic Perinatal Mental Health Practitioner looking for an exciting new role?

We are now recruiting for a Band 6 Perinatal Mental Health Practitioner to join a well-established NHS trust based in Wickford, Essex, on a locum contract. The trust are looking to cover for a Band 6 Perinatal Practitioner, therefore, either a Mental Health Nurse or an OT or Social Worker with the relevant experience will be desirable for this role. The successful practitioner will need to start as soon as possible for 12 weeks, working Mon-Fri 9-5; however, the trust could accept someone who would prefer part-time hours for this role.

The Perinatal Mental Health Practitioner will work as a Perinatal Mental Health Service member.  The post holder will manage a defined caseload of service users experiencing moderate to severe perinatal mental health problems and those with pre-existing severe mental health diagnoses to reduce perinatal risk and maintain stability in this vulnerable period for women’s mental health. They will undertake holistic community assessments, emphasising the parent-infant relationship and safeguarding. The post holder will offer a variety of therapeutic interventions, including supportive therapy, psychosocial interventions, specialist medication advice and problem-solving techniques.

Skills and experience needed:

  • Managing a caseload
  • Offer clinical treatment work and consultation
  • Experience with a wide range of mental health presentations
  • Can work well independently and as part of the team
