Pulse Nursing are pleased to be working with a specialist community service offering Adult Bladder & Bowel Care Services in the West Hertfordshire area.

We are seeking band 5 specialist community Nurses (with the opportunity to progress to band 6 within the role), to work within the Adult Bladder & Bowel Care Service Specialist Team assisting with the provision of assessment and clinical care of a high standard to patients with bladder and/or bowel dysfunction. 

The service is currently being run out of three clinics based in Hemel Hempstead, Watford and Borehamwood. Your day will be a mixture of first appointments, follow up appointments and writing up notes. 

Shifts will be Monday – Friday 9am-5pm. 

Rates – Dependent on experience 

Specialist Nurse Role Requirements:

Essential;

  • Experience of working as a registered nurse for minimum 1 year
  • Experience of working in a community setting
  • Experience of working as part of a team
  • Experience with the use of Microsoft Office and a variety of databases.
  • Willingness to undertake training as appropriate

Desirable:

  • Experience with the NHS patient information database (System One)
  • Previous experience in bladder and bowel dysfunction
  • Previous experience in completing continence assessments
  • Previous experience in bladder scanning
  • Previous experience of assessing, fitting and managing continence aids e.g. sheaths

Specialist Nurse Duties and Responsibilities;

  • To deliver care in accordance with Organisational Policies, procedures and guidelines
  • To support the service with new patient referral data inputting, clinic and home visit appointments bookings, taking of messages and answering phone enquiries and any other administration duties as required
  • To work within the Adult Bladder & Bowel Service Specialist Team completing continence assessments including bladder scanning, physical assessments and urine testing as clinically indicated, providing clinical care of a high standard to patients.
  • To work within the agreed SLA and formularies for the provision of containment products
  • To provide training for patients, carers and family members on aspects of continence promotion and incontinence management e.g. sheaths
  • To deliver bladder and bowel care training to trust staff and within other areas as required
  • To assess identified patients’ continence needs 
  • To report to the lead nurse any change or deterioration in a patient’s condition or any aspects of a patient’s condition causing concern
  • To carry out all procedures/treatments within his/her personal competence and within constraints of the job description
  • To advise the clinical lead immediately of any untoward incidents
  • To take part in a range of bladder and bowel health promotion activities as directed by the Clinical Lead
