Are you a compassionate Occupational Therapist who specialises in Learning Disabilities?

Our client is currently seeking a Band 5/6 Occupational Therapist to join their fantastic Learning Disabilities Team within an NHS trust based in Ilford, Essex. This position will be available for the successful therapist to start immediately, offering part-time and full-time hours with the placement due to end on 17.07.23.

The postholder will undertake the assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and discharge of service users, with the understanding that there should be communication with senior clinicians and OTs if concerns arise. The applying therapist will have the opportunity to be involved in a wider range of clinical work directly and in directly with service users and their families and carers, focusing on skills development, support needs, behaviours of concern, sensory processing and any other related areas, that enable the person with a learning disability to increase their independence and quality of life.

Applying OT’s must have:

  • HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist
  • Degree/qualification in Occupational Therapy
  • Extensive experience within a similar NHS setting
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Ability to work well within a team
  • Ability to build good relationships with patients

Duties within this role will include:

  • Carrying out functional assessments
  • Working as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Managing own caseload
  • Being legally and professionally accountable for own work
