Description

Pulse is currently seeking a compassionate and empathetic band 7 Speech Language Therapist with tracheostomy experience to join a fantastic hospital based in Sussex. This position is available for the appointed speech therapist to start as soon as possible, offering part-time hours for an ongoing period.

The speech language therapist in post will be providing independent treatment, assessment and management of a caseload with complex voice, communication and swallowing disorders. They will be working with individuals that have had tracheostomies and laryngectomies, therefore experience managing these will be essential.

Other skills and experience needed:

  • Masters level degree in Speech and Language Therapy or able to demonstrate specialist knowledge within this field through practical experience.
  • Evidence of relevant postgraduate education and training in advanced dysphagia, tracheostomy management, counselling.
  • Post-graduate training in videofluoroscopy
  • Significant postgraduate clinical experience in relevant field.
  • Substantial SLT experience within an acute hospital environment, including head and neck oncology patients and complex dysphagia.
  • Substantial experience in the management of communication and swallowing in tracheostomised patients.
  • Experience in managing a clinical and managerial caseload ensuring that clinical governance and quality assurance standards are met.
  • Experience of working as part of a Speech and Language Therapy and/or multidisciplinary team.
