Thermal testing for businesses

One of the primary symptoms consistent with COVID-19 is an elevated body temperature of over 38°C. To ensure your workforce is fit and well enough to work, we will provide qualified nurses on your premises to undertake thermal testing using touch free temperature scanners.

Why thermal testing?

Thermal testing is non-invasive and produces instant results. It should be carried out by a healthcare professional to ensure tests are conducted safely and effectively, and that medical advice can be given when necessary. Thermal testing can also be used to assess whether visitors are safe to enter your workplace.

Pulse has a vast database of qualified nurses and healthcare assistants ready to be placed into thermal testing roles. We’re already supporting the world’s largest eCommerce business as well as the UK’s most well-known private medical insurer with their thermal testing.

Our approach

The trained and qualified tester is provided with a medical grade thermometer and personal protective equipment including: surgical gloves, face masks, and a lab coat or disposable coat. Alcohol-based hand sanitiser must also be accessible in areas where testing is conducted.

The tester will ask employees whether they consent to having their temperatures tested. If an employee refuses testing, they will not be admitted to the workplace, on the basis that their attendance could jeopardise the health and safety of others.

In addition to conducting temperature screening, the tester will ask each employee who enters the workplace whether they are exhibiting any flu-like symptoms (coughing, shortness of breath, fever) or is otherwise feeling unwell. The tester will also ask whether the employee has had close contact with someone in the past 14 days who has been diagnosed with, or is presumed to have, COVID-19.

Where possible, employees will be tested and asked the screening questions in a private area, out of the sight and earshot of their colleagues and other visitors.

Test results will not be collected, recorded, stored, used or disclosed for any purpose aside from determining whether the employee should be permitted to enter the workplace.

Employees with temperatures at or above 38°C, or who answer “yes” to any of the screening questions, will be advised to return home, self-isolate, and contact 111 to discuss their symptoms, treatment options, quarantine requirements, and for an assessment regarding the next steps.
