Changes to March payroll dates

Due to the end of financial year, we wanted to make sure you were aware there is no payroll running on 31 March or 1 April. Please submit any outstanding timesheets before these dates to ensure you are paid on time.

National Insurance increase from April 2022

Last autumn the Government legislated for an increase in the rates of National Insurance contributions (NICs) in April 2022. The increase in contributions will be allocated to the NHS, health and social care in the UK and the government forecasts the increase to raise around £14 billion per year.

From 6 April 2022 to 5 April 2023, National Insurance contributions will increase by 1.25%.

What does this mean for you?

The increase in NI comes into effect for all payments received or scheduled to be received (as per your payslip) on or after the 6 April 2022. This means, for example, the main rate for employees is due to rise from 12% to 13.25% for all earnings over £190 per week. The secondary rate is also due to rise from 2% to 3.25% for all earnings over £967 per week.

Any hours worked week ending 27 March will be paid at the current NI rate. Any hours worked from 28 March onwards will be paid at the increase NI rate.

In order to maximise your earnings, please submit any outstanding timesheets before Wednesday 30 March as this is the last payroll date before the changes come into effect.
