Procurement / Purchasing

Once they get to a certain size, an organisation needs a procurement or purchasing division to manage spend. Everything that it buys - from stationary to training, from computer hardware to travel tickets – is overseen by this division to ensure efficiency.

A junior procurement assistant or buyer will provide day-to-day support to the wider purchasing or procurement team. Strong communication and negotiation skills are needed; you’ll be contacting suppliers for quotations and prices and obtaining samples. Good numerate and analytical skills would also be an advantage as you may be required to assist with developing forecasts for financial trends.
