PA / Secretaries / Executive Assistants
Often the ‘eyes and ears of an organisation’, PAs, secretaries and executive assistants deal with the day-to-day administration of an individual or team. Typical tasks include drafting letters and emails, diary management, organising travel and paying expenses. However, the duties of a corporate PA can also involve anything from overseas travel and attending meetings as your boss’ representative.
Most employers will expect applicants to be able to type; speed is key with 40wpm as a minimum. A good PA / secretary / executive assistant will be able to work under pressure, and with a variety of personalities. Good written communication skills are also important – you’ll often be called on to respond on your boss's behalf, and required to write reports and executive summaries. Good IT and internet skills are essential in these roles.
