A human resources department takes care of its organisation’s employees, dealing with areas such as recruitment, learning and development, training, employee benefits and redundancies. Most human resources assistants are trained on-the-job; work will involve updating personnel records, recording pay reviews etc.

Many companies will provide you with the opportunity to gain CIPD membership while you work and there are excellent career opportunities; an HR assistant can go on to be an HR administrator, then officer and then on to management.
