Job Description
Instrumentation Supervisor - Gas Chromatography - UKAS
Oil, Gas and Chemical Analysis
My client is a testing laboratory for oil gas and chemical samples based in the North West of England. Due to an increasing workload they are looking for an instrumentation supervisor within their UKAS (ISO17025) laboratory.
The main responsibility of this position is to ensure that instrumentation is maintained, calibrated and available for routine analysis to UKAS (ISO17025) standards. Lead the development of new analytical methods and perform complex analysis of samples using a variety of analytical techniques. Managing and coordinating day-to-day activities of the instrument laboratories under own initiative. Design and implement a preventative maintenance plan to ensure equipment availability. Ensuring instrument consumables stock levels are maintained. Lead the validation of new test methods to UKAS (ISO17025). Provide coaching and training to laboratory staff in a variety of analytical methods. Identify new equipment requirements and propose request for replacements / growth.
The successful applicant for this role will have in-depth knowledge of Gas Chromatography methods (GC, GC-MS and GC-FID) including method development and validation. Working knowledge of chromatography integration IT systems, and LIMS applications. Experience of working within a UKAS (ISO17025) environment and previous supervisory experience is desired.
Salary: £25,000-£28,000 + Bonus and benefits.
