Job Description

Position: Clinical Team Leader (Private Sector)
Salary: £38,000 - £45,000 plus excellent benefits / bonus
Location: Bradford / Leeds - West Yorkshire

Client Description:

Our client is a specialist provider of ophthalmic services in the UK and selected international markets. It operates in five private eye hospitals within the UK and is supported by over 80 consultant level ophthalmic surgeons. Through its world-class centres of excellence in eye care, our client brings together cutting edge research and medical expertise, state-of-the-art surgical equipment and top ophthalmic surgeons renowned for their areas of expertise to offer the best clinical outcomes in laser vision correction, cataract removal, refractive lens exchange and cosmetic procedures, all carried out in ultra-clean, theatre environments.

Job Description:

Reporting into the Hospital Manager, this is an excellent opportunity for a credible, forward thinking, pro-active manager with a proven track record of successfully managing a team. It is essential that you have a clinical background with current a current NMC pin number, along with experience of working within the private sector and ideally the NHS.

As the Clinical Team Leader you will lead, direct and motivate the clinical team as well as support the Hospital Manager in the day to day running and management of the hospital. In addition, you will be responsible for the delivery of patient centred health care, using clinical decision making where appropriate to ensure that there is an emphasis on excellence

Duties / Responsibilities:

·Ensure maximum efficiency, utilisation and seamless delivery of support to Consultants / Surgeons and the Hospital Manager.
·Ensure the Hospitals and operating theatres are staffed appropriately and within the guidelines of the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and other regulators
·Efficient channels of communication between the patient services team, clinical team, Consultants / Surgeons and Hospital Manager
·Ensure optimal use of all hospital facilities and staff including responsibility for staff rotas for allocation and clinical on-call.
·Lead, develop and mentor the clinical team including undertaking regular appraisals and supporting them to achieve their full potential.
·Deputise for the Hospital Manager in respect of responsibility for the clinical management of the hospital.
·Maintain an out of hour’s clinical emergency patient service for quality standards and continuity of care.
·Create, develop and maintain professional supportive relationships with all members of staff and with other professionals.
·Work with colleagues and take responsibility for the whole patient pathway.
·Work with the Hospital Manager and Patient Services Team Leader to review and assess clinical and administrational effectiveness, identifying areas for improvement, development plans and alternative strategies to achieve a positive result.
·Ensure that care is assessed and planned in a manner that is consistent with evidence-based practice, policies and procedures and the management of risk.
·Allocation and oversight of duties to ensure all mandatory hospital checks are carried out e.g. call bells, Resus trolley, anaesthetic machine and vital monitoring equipment.
·Identify, arrange, and/or deliver clinical training requirements for qualified and unqualified clinical staff.
·Responsibility for, and co-ordination of, the weekly clinical team meeting.
·Responsible for the orientation and induction of all new clinical staff using the clinical competency framework.
·Ensure that all clinical staff work within the policies and guidelines set out in respect of our company values, Equal Opportunities, Diversity at Work and Dignity at Work
Education / Qualifications:
·First level Nurse - Registration RGN - NMC
·Minimum Band 7 Nursing level
·Evidence of ongoing professional development

Experience

·Significant management experience in a hospital or ward
·Significant experience of effectively leading and managing a large team, including experience of employee relations issues
·Excellent understanding of CQC regulations and National Minimum Standards. Experience of making CQC submissions for new hospitals and/or CQC inspections preferred
·Knowledge of policies and procedures in line with National Care Standards
·Recruitment, induction, development and management of staff
·Working within private health care
·Assessing, planning and evaluation of patient centred care using evidence based practice
·Preferred Ophthalmic and Scrub skills - however applicants will be considered without this.
