Job Description

Senior Staff Nurse (RNLD/RMN)
£28,000 - £31,000
South East London

REPORTING TO: Registered Manager

40.5 hours per week (Mon - Sun)
A mixture of day and night shifts on a roster system: 8:30am - 9pm, 9pm to 8:30am

Annual Leave: 5.6 weeks (227 hrs) and pension contributions up to 4% (matched 1:1)

JOB OUTLINE

Our client seeks Senior Staff Nurses for a brand new service in South East London for adult patients presenting Learning Disabilities and additional diagnosis in accordance with CQC outcomes and company procedures

You will be responsible for providing effective clinical leadership to the other immediate clinical team members and ensure the delivery of effective healthcare services within a hospital for adults who present learning disabilities and additional diagnosis.

To provide a homely & safe environment that meets service users' individual needs and facilitates integration with the local community.

To provide guidance, support and practical advice for assisting the promotion of Self Help/Personal Skills, Domestic Skills, Socialisation, Self Realisation, and Emotional Awareness.


RESPONSIBILITY FOR STAFF:

· Supervise and support members of the team, provide positive leadership and always promote positive team working.
· Take on the role of ‘Nurse In Charge’ for allocated shifts, and ensure appropriate running of the hospital, taking into account the welfare of all patients.
· Provide information, coaching, role-modelling and instruction where required for achieving the objectives of the service.
· To delegate, monitor and evaluate the performance of members of the team.
· To ensure staff implement activities and programmes in accordance with prescribed plans of care.
· To motivate staff and promote morale.
· To carry out induction for all new staff and ensure that they have regular supervision and appraisal which need to be documented

PERSON SPECIFICATION

· Working experience in the mental and/or learning disability nursing field (RNLD, RMNH, RMN-qualified)
· Experience of Staff Appraisal, team management, staff supervision
· Competence of record keeping and report writing
· Effective communicator.
· Organisational abilities.
· Leadership qualities and ability to cope with pressure
· To demonstrate commitment to service users and carers.
· Liaison with other agencies
· Knowledge and demonstration of HMSO, NAPPI control and restraint techniques (or equiv)
