Job Description
Senior Chief Cardiac Physiologist (Head of Echo)
To provide a higher level of clinical expertise in Echocardiography and a broad range of investigations and procedures offered within the Trust.
This is a role created within the departmental structure, designed to strengthen leadership and education within the developing technical Cardiology services at General Hospital Foundation Trust within the NHS.
Principal duties and responsibilities:
To act as Trust expert lead in Adult and Paediatric echocardiography
Provide leadership and day to day management of the Echo service.
Set and evaluate standards of care for patients requiring an Echocardiogram
To contribute to clinical audit and utilise information to improve the quality of care;
Assist in clinical trials and research projects;
Provide a comprehensive report on Adult and Paediatric Echocardiograms;
Provide support and assistance to Physiologists during training in Echocardiography
To provide detailed reports and statistics on workloads and service activity and other issues as required by the departmental manager;
To ensure that NHS Trust policies and other appropriate information is fully disseminated to and understood by all subordinate staff within the department;
To develop constructive working relationships with all groups of staff both outside and within the department;
To deputise for the departmental manager in his/her absence.
To be responsible for junior staff undertaking Echocardiograms, and if necessary, oversee their work;
