Band 5 Ophthalmic Theatre Nurses
Moorfields is one of the world’s leading eye hospitals, providing expertise in clinical care, research and teaching and education, based in Central London.
Bank Partners are recruiting Theatre nurses to work Bank shifts within Moorfields NHS Foundation Trust at City Road and a number of outreach departments based within other hospitals in and around London.

Nurses and Healthcare Assistants working through the Bank provide vital support to Moorfields Eye Hospital and successful candidates will be expected to deliver the highest standard of care possible to patients.

· Be fully registered with the NMC
· Have experience of working in the NHS

· Be willing to travel to outreach departments

Job Summary
1. To work according to the Nursing & Midwifery Council and relevant professional guidelines as a named nurse or key worker (with facilitation) for a defined group of patients and take responsibility for: -
- protecting and supporting the health of individual patients and clients.
- The assessment of care and health education needs.
- The development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care including discharge planning for each patient.
2. To gain experience and skills in: -
- Clinical practice
- Facilitation and teaching
- Management (as appropriate)
3. To work in accordance with the MEH Nursing Strategy.
4. To maintain effective communication.
1. Patient Care Responsibilities
1.1 To ensure safe delivery of peri-operative care during the patient’s stay in theatre.
1.2 To promote a patient focused multidisciplinary approach to care in collaboration with carers, health care professionals and other agencies.
1.3 To acquire skills and knowledge to assist in emergencies.
1.4 To provide information which enables patients to make choices about adopting a healthier lifestyle.
1.5 To complete patient documentation correctly, appropriately and in a timely manner.
1.6 To maintain a safe departmental environment and work with other members of the team to produce health care environments that is conducive to safe, therapeutic care and ethical practice.
1.7 To assist in establishing and monitoring protocols/care pathways.
1.8 To participate in the promotion and maintenance of effective communication.
General Duties
1. You are responsible for ensuring that all risks of cross infection to patients are minimised and that all policies, procedures and guidance relating to infection control practice is adhered to.
2. You are responsible for ensuring that all equipment used by patients is clean/decontaminated as instructed by manufacturers and in line with the infection control/guidelines protocol and policy.
3. Any other duties as designated by your manager and which are commensurate with the grade.
