Sexual Health and Contraception Nurse in Luton

Job Description

Our client is looking for a Sexual Health Nurse with a recognised contraceptive certificate. To work shifts within a clinic in Luton & Dunstable area.

Responsibilities include:

· Providing asymptomatic STI/HIV testing, treatment and contraception service.
· Managing a clinical caseload including sexual history taking, STI testing,
giving results, providing treatment and giving sexual health advice
and referring to other providers if required.

· Ensuring there is adequate stock,ensuTing PGD’s are kept up to date.
· To give pre and post HIV test information.
· To undertake service user assessment of sexual health needs and advise on appropriate screening.
· Deliver health promotion, education and advice to clients including information on sexual health, safer sex and contraception.
· Perform veno-puncture and male and female sexual health screens.
· Assess clients according to the Fraser Guidelines (England & Wales) and Age of Legal Capacity Act 1991 (Scotland).


Successful candidates will posses the following skills:


· Excellent communication skills, the ability to relate to a wide
range of people and the ability to communicate well with young people.
· A minimum of 12-months experience working within sexual health or contraception services; level one of the NMC; evidence of recent PCD
· Experience of working to a PGD
· Experience of partner notification
· Knowledge of HIV E
· Knowledge of contraception with recognised contraceptive certificate.
· Excellent organizational skills and experience of ordering stock and managing recourses for clinical services.
· To have completed a recognized sexual health training course.
(Sexually transmitted infection foundation, STIF, as a minimum)
· Be computer literate
