Job Description

Pulse International is looking for a Night Superintendent (Registered Nurse) for the brand new, state-of-the-art King Hamad University hospital in Bahrain.

The hospital will initially have 311 beds (expanding in the future to 500 beds) and is due to open during 2011. Operated by Bahrain Defence Forces, the hospital acts as a principal teaching hospital for the adjacent Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland – Medical University of Bahrain and other local universities. It has been designed to operate as a centre of academic and clinical excellence and is committed to achieving international accreditation within two years. All major specialties will be available as well as a full range of allied healthcare services.

Working closely with all clinical teams the Night Superintendent will provide clinical leadership to ensure high quality care across the hospital on night duty. He she will be part of the Senior Management Team and able to deputise as required for the Director of Nursing.

The successful candidate for this post will be a western-trained Registered Nurse with at least five years experience in a senior management role within a major healthcare organization. Postgraduate and management qualifications would be an advantage and candidates should be able to demonstrate a record of achievement, with five years experience in a senior management role, to include two years as a Senior Nurse Manager, Night Services in an acute-care setting. It is essential to have expert knowledge of current emergency care issues and targets.

A team from the King Hamad Hospital will visit the UK and Ireland early in the New Year to make a presentation about the hospital and to conduct personal interviews. It is anticipated that staff appointed to senior posts will start work in the spring of 2011 prior to the opening of the hospital which is scheduled for September 2011.
