Description
PULSE Scientific are pleased to be representing a leading Food company that has a site in the Rotherham area. Due to increased demand for their services, they now have a requirement for a Chemistry Manager to join their busy and diverse team.
The main function of the role is to organise and manage a team of up to 2 Senior Analysts and approximately 20 lab staff within the Chemistry laboratory in order to ensure that analytical procedures are carried out on time in accordance with written instructions, with due regard for health and safety issues and in accordance with GCLP.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Maintain UKAS standards within the respective work areas by means of regular auditing. Ensure maintenance of all quality systems and paperwork to UKAS standards for own section, in consultation with the site Quality Officer.
· Ensure participation in external FAPAS testing.
· Investigate atypical results and quality system failures raised by customers or internal/ external audits.
· Monitor equipment performance within the laboratory and to arrange for appropriate repair, service and calibration.
EDUCATION, BACKGROUND & SKILLS
· Applicants must be educated to degree level, or equivalent, in Chemistry or a science related subject ideally with membership of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
· Experience of using GC, AA & HPLC is required.
· Previous man management experience is an essential requirement, preferably in a high throughput production driven environment.
