Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, NHS Trust, The Trust, NHS Trust Jobs
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust aims to be a hospital of choice for patients and an employer of choice for staff.
The Trust is also one of the teaching centres for Imperial College London School of Medicine.
The Trust provides a full range of general medical and surgical services for the local community, and specialist services for people wherever they live. St Stephen’s Centre, next door to the hospital, houses most of the Trust’s specialist HIV and sexual health services. Sexual health outreach services are also provided at the Victoria Clinic, SW1, the West London Centre for Sexual Health at Charing Cross Hospital and in a range of community settings.
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, which was opened by the Queen in 1993, offers a uniquely modern hospital environment. Its light and airy modern design is built around a vast atrium - one of the largest in Europe - and incorporates a stunning array of visual arts, which help create a healing and uplifting atmosphere enjoyed by patients, staff and visitors.
The Trust has enhanced its reputation for high quality care and good management by gaining Foundation Trust status in October 2006 and earning a rating of ‘Good’ for Quality of Services in the Healthcare Commission’s annual performance ratings, published in October 2006.
Their services are often recognised nationally – in 2006 their recruitment and retention strategy to reduce midwife vacancy rates was short-listed for the Health Service Journal Awards, a scheme to allow sexual health patients to request clinic appointments via the Trust website was short-listed for the NHS Innovators Awards, and they were rated as one of the top 26 hospitals in England for the care of patients aged 50+ according to research by Saga/Dr Foster.
Their reputation as a good place to work has been reinforced by their achievement of Improving Working Lives Practice Plus status in 2005 – this is only awarded to NHS trusts that demonstrate high standards in areas including flexible working, and training and development.
